Inori-nui 祈り縫 on Paper – A Small Talisman

Inori-nui (祈り縫), meaning “prayer stitching”, is Asako Hishiki’s original interpretation of the traditional Japanese Sashiko (刺し子) technique, traditionally practised on fabric. In this workshop, the thread and gesture of embroidery are transferred onto paper to create a small talisman. Participants will explore different traditional Japanese patterns, discovering the value of repetition, precision and compositional balance. An accessible experience, also suitable for those approaching this technique for the first time.terpretation by Asako Hishiki, the thread and the gesture of embroidery are transferred onto paper, transforming the surface into a field of signs and rhythms.
